Javelin Requirements
  • The Javelin Modeler+Coder will run on the Windows platform and Linux (under Wine).
  • The Java software that you create with the assistance of Javelin can be deployed on any OS with a Java Virtual Machine: Windows, Linux, Mobile Devices. No Javelin specific run time libraries are required to run the deployed software.
  • 3 MB Hard disk space
  • Optional: Ant - for compiling and running your designs. Javelin will work with other build systems but it defaults to Ant. If you currently use an IDE Javelin you can continue to use that to compile the code that Javelin generates and manages.
  • Sun's Java™ Developers Kit - any version
  • If you choose to use the Hibernate Persistence Option then you will need to download Hibernate and install - very easy and quick to do.
  • If you choose to use a JDO Persistence Option then you will need to download a JDO implementation. JPOX (www.jpox.org) is an excellent JDO 2 compliant implementation and can be used without charge for open source or commercial development. Versant Open Accesss (www.versant.com) is a well established JDO implementation.
  • A strong desire to program in a high productivity, high level, visual, purely object oriented manner - and you should have that by now otherwise you wouldn't be on this site!
